A couple, Joe and Bonnie Duran were witness to the tragic accident between a school bus and a tractor-trailer. The couple said that they were riding a sedan northbound on the 5 Freeway on Thursday, when they saw a FedEx truck moving south, heading towards them. It struck their rental car and then crashed headlong into a high school bus from Southern California. The bus and truck were immediately lapped in flames.
Bonnie Duran, who drove the car, said that the truck already had caught fire before it crashed against the bus, she said that the flames were coming from the lower part of the truck. The police will be having a word with the couple before sending them home. The police had initially thought that the sedan and the truck were moving in the same direction, when the truck had moved to the side to avoid hitting the sedan. Among the people who died were five students, three chaperones, the truck and the bus driver. Dozens have been reported as injured.
