There are different ways to find out how bad flu is in your area. The local news bombard about how bad the flu is going to be. While all social media channels and video sharing websites may talking about it, Esri’s social media flu map can be a good indicator of flu trend in your area.
The good part of the Esri map is that you can click on a state and get a good overview of the flu activity in your state. For instance, Oklahoma is a place in the US where flu activity in high in 2013. Once you zoom on it, you can find individual tweets and Youtube videos that relate to a particular geographic area. For instance, if you click a Tweet in Oklahoma, you will read “Gabrielle Martinez @02BrownSugarSomeone is gonna pay if I get the dadgum flu!” Not exactly in-depth reporting but an bea good indicator to know that you can get tested for flu in your area, if you live there.
