4 tablets have been announced in October 2013. Apple’s new Ipad is called the iPad Air. This is the fifth generation tablet of the tablet major. The features include a 9.7 inch screen which is the same as the previous iPad and the same A7 processing chip which was seen in iPhone 5S.
iPad Air weighs just 1 pound and is 20 percent thinner and 28.7 percent lighter than the fourth generation iPad. Apple Vice President Phil Schiller said, that iPad Air is 72 times faster than the original iPad.
iPad Air goes on store from November 1, with prices beginning from $499 for the 16GB WI-FI model to $629 for the one with 16GB and 4G LTE connectivity.
Schiller also unveiled the all new iPad Mini, the price of which begins at $399. This will be released in the month of November and have an A7 processor and the same high resolution retina display that is evident in the big iPads. The older iPad Mini is still available and costs $299.
Apple also released the latest version of Mac, called OS X Mavericks, which is available for free download. The price of OS X upgrades are on the wane, probably showing that Apple is taking a leaf from the book of Microsoft which would rather make revenue from selling Windows computers.
Meanwhile, desktop fans can gear up for the release of all-powerful Mac Pro, the desktop computer that will be equipped with high end graphics, at a price of $2999 and should release by the end of 2013, according to the words of Phil Schiller.
Apple may have released quite a few tech gadgets this week but it has company. Microsoft released Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets on October 22, 2013. Nokia released its own Windows 8 tablet, the Lumia 2520. While the price of Surface 2 is $449, the more resourceful Surface Pro2 costs $899.
Nokia with the release of Lumia 2520, has released the company’s very own tablet for the first time. The price is $499. It is also the first major product of Nokia since Microsoft announced that it would take over the company.
