London Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony Pictures

The 2012 London Olympics Closing Ceremony was one huge gala party where musicians and sports stars of present and past mingled together and created entertainment unparalleled.  The world-wide telecast actually began at 21.00 BST and completed at 00.11. The ceremony was also streamed live on Youtube and last for 3 hours and 11 minutes. The estimated global audience is said to be about 750 milion.

The 2012 Olympics closing ceremony started with a huge fireworks display .   The show known as ‘A Symphony of British Music’ had best of British talent, new as well as established acts.   Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell featured in a segment that celebrated British fashion.  The performers that enthralled the audiences included Spice Girls, Fatboy Slim, Russell Brand,  Taio Cruz, Pet Shop Boys, Annie Lenox, George Michael and many others.

The Olympic Flag was symbolically passed on from Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London to the head of IOC, Jacques Rouge, and then to the mayor of Rio de Janerio, Eduardo Paes, who held it as the Brazilian anthem played on, in the background.  . In his final words, at the end of the Games, Sebastian Coe, the chairman of LOCOG, reminded the audience that during the opening ceremony he had said that games would be a chance for Great Britain’s determination to show itself at its best and that he would now add: “Britain, we did it right.” Rogge said that the games were ‘happy and glorious’ and as he ended the speech, he said that he declared the ‘games closed’.  Take That sang  as the Olympic flame was lowered.  The Olympic Cauldron was lowered a minute passed midnight,  signifying the end of the London 2012 Olympics. Over to you, Brazil !”
