Sarah Guyard-Guillot, a Paris born acrobatic performer died while performing in Cirque du Soliel, as a result of a fall during the event in Las Vegas. She fell nearly 50 feet from the stage, just as the show was winding up, in the night. She was pronounced dead late Saturday night.
A visitor who saw the 31 year old performer losing her balance and slipping free of the safety wire down into the open pit, under the stage, said, “Initially, a lot of people in the audience thought it was part of the (show). But you could hear screaming, then groaning, and we could hear a female artist crying from the stage.”
Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte said in a statement issued on Sunday that Sarah Guyard-Guillot was indeed a star performer and now the performances of ‘Ka’ have been cancelled until further notice. The audiences were assured of refunds before the show closed for the night.
Guyard-Guillot, a young mother of two children was a part of the original cast of ‘Ka’ since 2006. She had been working professionally as an acrobatic performer since 20 years. The police authorities are also investigating the case to rule out any foul play.
