Legendary Hollywood director Tony Scott is dead. He committed suicide; jumping off Los Angeles bridge.  The LA coroner office confirmed that the 68 year old director jumped off Vincent Thomas Bridge, spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island of California at around 12. 30 pm on Sunday.   Tony Scott has directed Hollywood blockbusters like Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Beverly Hills Cop II and Enemy of the State.  Officials pulled off the body from murky water hours later. A suicide note was found at his office.  He is the younger brother of the famous director Ridley Scott.

Many people had called 911 at around 12.35 pm to notify that someone had jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge that spans across Los Angeles Harbor. This 6060 feet bridge rises 185 feet at its highest point above the harbor.

Many eminent celebrities mourned the death of the celebrated director Tony Scott on Twitter.

Anthony Scott was born in 1944 in England.  He had first appeared on screen in a movie called The Boy and the Bicycle, which was directed by Ridley Scott, at the age of 6.

As he grew older, Tony directed TV commercials before he got his break in Hollywood. The first movie ‘ The Hunger’ was a flop but that did not deter him from still trying again. His second feature film Tom Gun is a cult classic, which is also Tom Cruise’s best known movie. Released in 1986, Top Gun fetched $175 million in sales in the same year.

Tony would frequently make movies with Denzel Washington, including his last movie, the train drama, Unstoppable (2010). They also worked together on Man on Fire, Deja Vu, and The Taking of Pelham 123.  In his career, spanning 15 movies, none were able to match the glory of Top Gun.

After two marriages that did not go well, Tony Scott met his wife Donna in 1994. She, a successful model and actress would normally appear in his film. They also have two twin boys  Frank and Max.  Tony and his brother Ridley Scott who ran Scott Free Productions were working jointly on a move called killing Lincoln which was based on the book by Bill O’Reilly.

Independent reports have emerged stating that Tony Scott was diagnosed with an inoperable brain cancer.  As the autospy is performed on Monday morning,  Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County revealed that  a brain issue could be determined by the autopsy.
