Whitney Houston’s funeral celebrated the life of the pop diva at the church where she first sang as a child. The singer was found dead in a bath-tub in her Beverly Hills Hotel room. Her body was buried alongside her father John Houston on Sunday.
The funeral service of Whitney Houston was witnessed by the A-listers of the music world including Mariah Carey, Ashley Keys,g Chaka Khan, Brandy, Roberta Flack, Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Hudson. Singer Ray J, who spent time with Houston during her last days, broke down crying before the funeral had even commenced. The rapper extended his hand, touched the casket as it passed him down the aisle of the church, before collapsing with emotions.
At the service’s close, with Whitney’s greatest hit I Will Always Love You playing, her mother Cissy followed behind the casket supported by two helpers as she woefully watched her only daughter’s coffin being taken out. Her wails of ‘My baby!’ could be heard throughout the church.
Ex-husband Bobby Brown was seen arguing and storming out of the chapel after arguing with Houston’s family over the number of guests he was supposed to bring.
The eternal song ‘ I will always love you’ was played in the background as Whitney’s body was taken away from the chapel.
Bobby Brown left the scene in huff but returned in time to the start of the home going service. He said to the press later, ‘My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions.
‘I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene.”
Whitney Houston’s last performance was with friend Kelly Price, just two days before her death on February 9, 2012.
